Learn Something New Beyond Excel

Learn Something New Beyond Excel

If you love Excel, and want to expand your horizons a bit, there are a couple of great opportunities for you to learn something new, beyond Excel features and formulas. Are you ready for an adventure?

Power BI

If you can get to Melbourne, Australia next month, check out content for the Australia Summit for Microsoft Business Applications.

The Summit sessions run from Wednesday, August 21st to Friday, August 23rd.

One of the conference tracks is for the Power Platform – Power BI, Power Apps and Microsoft Flow.

Power Platform Sessions

As an Excel power user, I’m sure that you’ve heard about the great things you can do in Excel, with Power Query.

Whether you’re a Power BI beginner or expert, the Power BI sessions will show you even more of the awesome things you can accomplish.

On the Daily Dose of Excel blog, Jeff Weir wrote about the Australian Summit, and some of the sessions that he’ll be attending.

There’s still time to register, so learn more about the Power Platform track, and see all the sessions they’re running.

Google Sheets Extreme Formulas

If you can’t make it to Australia, but you’d still like to learn something new beyond Excel, here’s a different opportunity.

Ben Collins is a Google Sheets expert, and a great teacher too! Ben just opened his latest course – Extreme Formulas in Google Sheets.  The course fee is only $49 US until Thursday, if you use coupon code: EXTREMELAUNCH

There are many similarities between Excel and Google Sheets, and many differences too. I’m not giving up Excel, but it’s helpful to know what Google Sheets can do.

Google Sheets Mini Challenge

I tried the mini-challenge on the course information page and was impressed! First of all, I didn’t know that browser trick for creating a new Google sheet.

Then, with 4 simple formulas, Ben showed how to create a circle in a cell, using Google Sheets Sparkline function. Here’s my circle, using a red font, because why not?

Google Sheets Formula Basics

If you’re comfortable with Excel formulas, you should be able to tackle this Google Sheets course, without much trouble.

But, if you’d like to learn the basics first, Ben has a free course too – Advanced Formulas – 30 Day Challenge.

Don’t Miss the Discount

You could sign up for the Extreme Formulas course while the discount is available (coupon code: EXTREMELAUNCH) and then do the free course first, to get started.

You’ll get lifetime access to Ben’s courses, so there’s no rush to start the training, after you register.

Excel Training

And if you’d rather spend your time learning more about Excel, there’s a list of courses on my Contextures website.
