We celebrate on October 17th because that is the date on which VisiCalc was first released, way back in 1979 – and that was 36 years ago. How time flies when you’re having fun with spreadsheets!
Spreadsheet Hall of Fame
This year’s project is to create a digital Spreadsheet Hall of Fame, and to start by inducting our favorite spreadsheet programs.

To celebrate Spreadsheet Day, Albert Kroes had a special cake made for his department yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn’t get invited to the party, but that cake looks delicious! Thanks for allowing me to share your photo, Albert.
The old familiar green text on a black screen is a bit hard to read in the small photo, so I put it into Excel, so you can read it below. It looks like toe toners were selling well, way back in October 1979.
